Oakland Raiders 2011 Schedule: Is This the Year the Raiders Make the Playoffs?

Oakland Raiders 2011 Schedule Comes Out Today As They Continue To Build Towards the Playoffs

The Oakland Raiders were the biggest surprise of last year.

As a team that has been a perpetual laughingstock of football, people wrote off the Raiders as nothing more than an afterthought.

Yet somehow, someway, this team ended up with an 8-8 record as Darren McFadden exploded, becoming a beast in the backfield for the Raiders.

As Oakland heads into 2011-12, the future looks bright, even in the Black Hole.

Oakland Raiders Schedule

Home: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, New England, New York Jets, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit

Away: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Buffalo, Miami, Houston, Green Bay, Minnesota

This is a schedule with a lot of easy opponents and teams that have weaknesses on them, giving the Raiders a path to the playoffs if they can continue to play at the level we saw last year.

Teams like Denver, Buffalo, Miami and Houston are games that Oakland should easily win, giving a four game cushion right there. Games against teams like New England, the Jets and Green Bay are losses, leaving nine games up for grabs.

Even with a split of the division games, you're looking at 7-6, and games like Chicago, Minnesota and Cleveland are all winnable contests

If Oakland takes all three of those games, and I think they will, you have a 10-6 record with room for improvement if you sweep a division opponent or two.

The future is bright for the Raiders. Watch out for them next year.

Prediction: 10-6
