Preseason College Football Rankings 2011: 3 Teams AP Poll Got Wrong

The preseason AP Poll is finally out, and just like the Coaches Poll, they got a few things right and a few things very wrong.

All top 25 teams are worthy of being ranked, but some teams received more love than others. Those on the outside looking in have what it takes to make it in the top 25, but they aren't teams will be a serious threat all season long. There are also a few teams that will be out of the top 25 in the first few weeks.

Here are three teams the AP Poll got wrong.

No. 5 Boise State Broncos

The Broncos are definitely a top 10 team, but top five is a stretch. The Florida State Seminoles and the Stanford Cardinal are much more deserving of a top five spot, but the cinderella team was awarded the spot.

Perhaps the voters want to see if Boise can handle be a top five team entering the season, or they wanted to spice up the Chick-Fil-A Kick-Off game against the Georgia Buldogs even more. Either way, the Broncos don't deserve a top five ranking because they just aren't good enough for it.

No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies

Make no mistake about it, the Aggies are going to be a tough team to beat this year. But to be ranked ahead of the Oklahoma State Cowboys who have a better quarterback and a better receiver, possibly the best in the country, is not right. The Aggies lost Von Miller to the NFL, and that means their defense won't be anywhere as good as it was.

The Cowboys and the Aggies should be flip flopped from No. 8 and No. 9, because Oklahoma State is better. Plus, further proof is that the Aggies lost to the Cowboys in 2010. Both are worthy of a top 10 ranking, but the Cowboys should be on top of the Aggies.

No. 19 Georgia Bulldogs

As a Georgia fan, it pains me to put the Bulldogs on here, but the truth is that the AP Poll messed up. This Georgia team is no a top 20 team yet. They have the right to be in the top 25 because they have incredible talent on their roster, but No. 19 is pushing it.

Ranking Georgia ahead of the Mississippi State Bulldogs is also where the AP Poll went wrong. Dan Mullen and his Bulldogs beat Mark Richt and is Bulldogs in 2010, and therefore they should be ahead of Georgia in the 2011 preseason ranking, especially since Mississippi State didn't lose many players.

These are the three teams the AP Poll got wrong, but all three are extremely capable of proving the voters right, and they'll have the chance to do so in the early weeks of the season.
