2011 Nike Pro Combat Uniforms: Why Oregon?s Unis Are Their Best Ones Yet

No team in college football has worn a wider array of uniforms over the past few seasons than the Oregon Ducks. From hunter green to lime green, black, white, gray, silver, yellow and every color in between, Oregon has suffered from one serious identity crisis.

With that in mind it is understandable why some people might not be too impressed with Oregon's latest Nike Pro Combat uniforms. Those who are writing off the Ducks' newest unis are doing them a great disservice, however. Of the nine Pro Combat uniforms that have been released to this point, Oregon's is one of, or perhaps the best.

An all-black color scheme gives the uniforms a really sinister look and will surely make the players a menacing sight to behold. The detail is incredible when you take a closer look as the jerseys feature Oregon's trademark shoulder wings which can be seen due to their shine despite the fact that they too are black.

The names and numbers on the jersey are accented beautifully by either a yellow or shocking green color. It's difficult to tell for sure from the renders. The helmets are simple and completely black, including the facemask. Because of the dark background, the ever-present yellow Oregon "O" stands out that much more.

Even the accessories look good, particularly the cleats. The main color on the cleats is lime green, but the toe and bottom are silver, which creates a very attractive dynamic. The Ducks will be wearing these awesome uniforms in their season opener against the LSU Tigers in the Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium.

If the Ducks hope to get back to the National Championship this season, then their battle with LSU could very well be a must-win. The good news for the Ducks, though, is whether they win or lose on Sept. 3, they'll look good doing it.
