Just like that, all the momentum that was built from the epic shoot promo and the subsequent media attention will be thrown away because the WWE can?t resign their star.
CM Punk has become one of the biggest stars in not just wrestling, but sports in general, and now he is about to walk right out of the company with all that momentum and publicity.
There has been much speculation about Punk?s future with the WWE, but one thing that is certain now is that his entire stable, Nexus, is being broken up.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting:
With the likeliness of Nexus being dissolved after the WWE departure of CM Punk, creative has been thinking of ways to repackage Mason Ryan upon his return. At this point, several options have been discussed, with two of them seeing Ryan acting as a body guard to either The Miz or Alberto Del Rio.
From the way the creative staff is making these changes, it looks like management knows what CM Punk?s decision will be, and they are preparing for it.
The WWE is one of the toughest companies to do business with because of their stranglehold on the wrestling business. Punk was one of the few wrestlers that actually had leverage against Vince McMahon during contract talks, and he may be one in a long line of wrestling greats that tell McMahon to shove it.
Punk has the wrestling world by the throat, and it?s up to him to make the most of his opportunity to change the way the wrestling game is played.
