Amir Khan vs Zab Judah: Khan Continues to Prove He's a Rising Superstar

Amir Khan, with a record of 25-1, came into the bout against Zab Judah on Saturday in Las Vegas as a rising superstar, gaining acclaim for his combination of speed and power in the lightweight division.

After five rounds, the fight was over.

Khan sent Judah to the ground in the fifth round on Saturday with a combination of a right hand to the head and right to the body, knocking the wind out of Judah and leaving him unable to rise by the 10-count.

Although Judah claimed the right to the body was a low blow, instant replay showed that it wasn't and was right at the belt, and the only thing anyone could talk about after the fight was how good Khan looked in the ring.

Wrote Nabil Hassan of BBC Sport after the knockout:

Stunning performance from Khan, he won every round and the finish was lethal. A right to the body knocked the wind out of Judah.

We can only hope Khan's all-around performance dominates the headlines, and that Judah's excuse doesn't.

This was a professional, complete fight from Khan, and he showed why he could be a legitimate challenger to Mayweather down the line given two more fights or so.

And although Judah was an underdog in the fight, he still had a left hand that had taken down many worthy opponents, and he certainly wasn't a push-over.

Need any more proof Khan could be the next big thing?

Take it from Bernard Hopkins, via BBC Sport:

"The future of boxing is in safe hands, he is a star of the future."

The 24-year-old was dominant on Saturday, and he gave the boxing world the kind of effort that makes fans drool about the possibilities.

At this point, there doesn't appear to be a boxer who can stop Khan's rise...except maybe Mayweather.

But we'll leave that alone for now.
