All he had to say was two words: Roll Tide. Cyrus Jones, one of the speediest players America has committed to Alabama. Auburn, Virginia Tech and Ohio State were in the race, but I felt this was a 'Bama race for awhile.
A 5'11", 185-pound speedster that can play WR, RB, DB and returner, Jones' game is based on speed and quickness. He's a playmaker with the ball in his hands, but also could be a top flight CB.
He tripped to Auburn last month and had a great time, enjoying the atmosphere there and that put the Tigers inside his top three. But many around Tuscaloosa remained confident that they had made a lasting impression on him, as Jones was thought to be a 'Bama lean for awhile.
He becomes Nick Saban's 24th commitment of this class, as yet again, Saban has the Tide competing for both a national title and recruiting title in the same year.
Now the question becomes as to where Jones will play in Tuscaloosa? He flashes the run instincts to be a great scat back as a runner, the quickness, speed and RAC ability to play WR and the transition quickness and hips to be a great cornerback.
Defensive minded, Saban could be prompt to throw him on defense on the islands, but I think Alabama needs more speed and playmakers on the offensive perimeter and Jones should be a WR in Tuscaloosa.
Either it goes, the Crimson Tide just themselves a heck of a football player and another recruit that's among the tops in the nation.
