Rob Gronkowski is in the midst of revolutionizing the tight end position and proving that there are still ways to make Tom Brady and the New England offense look better.
Now he has a chance to show his skills on the brightest of stages, the Super Bowl. There is no way he passes up this opportunity to show just how special he is.
He’s going to make plays if he has to get up, hobble over from some Indianapolis hospital and play in a No. 87 gown.
The Gronk has never missed a game in his short, but illustrious career. In 2011-12, he set a record for most yards receiving by a tight end and shattered the touchdown reception mark for his position with 17.
To put it simply, the guy is a gamer.
He cares about his team, he cares about winning and he cares about doing everything in his power to make sure his team wins.
This is why, despite reports that Gronkowski may be hindered with an ankle injury, you know that the sophomore TE will be on the field and a big part of the Patriots’ game plan next Sunday.
They would not have had a stellar regular season without him and the TE had quite a solid playoff run, hauling in 15 receptions for 232 yards and three touchdowns in two games.
Most of those stats were put up against the Broncos, but Gronk was an integral part of their offense against the Ravens, until going down with that injury in the third quarter.
Gronkowski wasn’t around in New England back in 2008, when the Giants ruined their perfect season, but you can expect him to be motivated like he was the captain that year.
This kid simply has the heart, soul and passion to play and make an impression, no matter who is covering him.
He’s also strong as an ox and will play through this injury if he is even one percent healthy.
Look for him out on the field on the Super Bowl and definitely expect him to make a huge impact.
