Tu Holloway is One Of The Best Players in the Tourney Can he Get Them Past Marquette?
Can you feel it? If you are anything like me, your heart is racing in anticipation for the start of the NCAA tournament. Please do not give me the 'First Four already started the tourney' guff. Those are play-in games. So let's be adult, and say that the real business starts tomorrow.
With it come exciting finishes and new found heroes. One player ready to make his mark on the college basketball landscape is Tu Holloway. He is already considered one of the best in the game, he just may become a household name in the next three weeks.
Xavier could run into issues instantly. They play a very tough Marquette team right off the bat. Xavier's chances of reaching the next round lie solely in Holloway's hands. There are not many teams that rely do heavily on one player.
It is a good thing for them that the dude can ball. Dana O'Neil is a tad nicer on Xavier's role player than I am.
"Holloway could very easily become the Steph Curry of this tournament. His team is every bit as good as Davidson was, experienced and talented, and Holloway is every bit as transcendent as Curry. Don't take your eyes off of him when the Musketeers play."
The problem I see is a lack of depth. Xavier is content to run a seven man rotation. That may be enough to sidestep an upset by Marquette. It will prove much more dire in later rounds. I hope they maneuver out of the first couple of rounds.
Holloway is the type of talent that could entertain even the most wayward college hoops fan. He is gifted and driven. He just may not have the guns around him to show his mettle.
