NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Questions About Blake Griffin's Plan To Dunk Over a Car

NBA Slam Dunk Contest Could See All Sorts Of Firsts If Blake Griffin Carries Out His Plan to Dunk Over A Car

Don't know if you've heard the latest rumor, but it comes straight from New York Times sports reporter Jonathan Abrams.

According to a post on Abrams' Twitter account, Los Angeles Clippers rookie big man Blake Griffin is planning on dunking over a car in tonight's Slam Dunk Contest.

Well, if he says so. Thanks for ruining what could have been the coolest surprise of all time, Mr. Abrams.

Regardless, one can see where Griffin is coming from if this is indeed his plan. Nate Robinson set the bar pretty high when he dunked over Dwight Howard a couple years ago, and you don't need me to tell you that the Dunk Contest is all about one-upping the last dude.

However, this doesn't mean I don't have some questions.

For example, will the car be moving? If so, will it be moving perpendicular to the hoop, or will it be cutting across the floor from the sideline?

How many passengers will be in the car?

Will the car be on fire?

But last but not least, is it safe?

Come to think of it, that last question is the one I'm most concerned about. I'm no Clippers fan, but I am sure as hell a fan of Blake Griffin's dunks, and I'm worried whether or not we'll get to see any more of those in the event that Blake injures himself.

So as cool as the idea of watching Griffin dunk over a car sounds, maybe it would be for the best if he decided to do something else now that the cat's out of the bag.
