Back by popular demand, here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished.
We don't know if Dion takes requests for Phaneuf'ings, but ?
Preview: Philadelphia Flyers at Dallas Stars, 7:30 p.m. Sergei Bobrovsky gets the start and all indications are that Claude Giroux returns from a concussion for the Flyers. Richard Bachman makes his sixth straight start for the Stars. No overtime, boys; it's "24/7" night.
Preview: Montreal Canadiens at Chicago Blackhawks, 7:30 p.m. Monoliguistic Anglophone Randy Cunneyworth looks for his first win as Montreal interim coach as the Habs face the red-hot Blackhawks, winners of five of six. Corey Crawford gets his first start since Dec. 4 for the Chicago, and it's a big spot for him. He'll be countered, of course, by Carey ? wait, Peter Budaj?!
Preview: Phoenix Coyotes at Carolina Hurricanes, 7 p.m. Kirk Muller is 2-5-2 as head coach of the Hurricanes, but faces a Coyotes team that will be without starting goalie Mike Smith, who is day-to-day with a "little tweak" of a lower body injury. Cam Ward is 3-0-0 with a 2.30 GAA in his last three games against Phoenix. No TV for this bad boy; Jumbotron feed?
Preview: St. Louis Blues at Colorado Avalanche, 9:30 p.m. The Avs have won two straight without Kyle Quincey, so even though he's healthy he gets the press box. If the Avs win at home, it'll be their seventh victory in a row over the Blues. If the Blues win or lose in overtime, they'll have earned points in eight straight road games.
Preview: Detroit Red Wings at Vancouver Canucks, 10 p.m. Jimmy Ho vs. Bobby Lou. Said Canucks coach Alain Vigneault of the Wings: "They play to their strengths. Their strengths are speed, skill, great puck control. When it's time to carry the puck in, they carry it in, when it's time to chip it behind and go get it on the forecheck, that's playing the right way. That's what Detroit does well; they read the game real well, both offensively and defensively."
Preview: Tampa Bay Lightning at San Jose Sharks, 10:30 p.m. Benn Ferriero is in, Martin Havlat is out. The question is for how long.
