Landon Donovan is one of the most accomplished US soccer players of all time.
He is the current top scorer for both the US Men’s National Team and the Los Angeles Galaxy. A highly creative midfielder/winger, Donovan is a top-class soccer player who creates and scores goals wherever he goes.
Playing for Everton FC on loan last January, Donovan was well-received by the Evertonians and even scored a couple of goals in his short spell there. Everton FC reportedly tried to get him on a permanent basis, but were put off by a lack of transfer funds and his high transfer price.
Everton FC currently sit in 12th place, though with a game in hand, which if they won would propel them into ninth place.
They are competing with quality teams like Newcastle United, Liverpool FC and Stoke City for a Top 6 finish so that they can qualify for European competition next season.
Purchasing Donovan would give Everton FC that extra bit of firepower that they desperately need to push past the other teams and qualify for Europe.
As his career nears its end, Donovan is at an age where he only has one big transfer left. At 29 years old, Landon is a guaranteed national team starter and a legend in MLS.
He needs to seriously decide whether he wants to stay in the MLS and continue to be one of MLS’ biggest stars or if he wants to take a chance and play in one of the best leagues in Europe for a strong, storied football team.
With the Los Angeles Galaxy, Donovan has won the MLS Cup twice, the US Open Cup once and the MLS Supporter’s Shield twice. He is the team’s top scorer and has made over 200 appearances for them in which he totaled almost 100 goals.
He is already a club legend and has won almost every trophy he possibly could with the Los Angeles Galaxy. It is time for him to move on and make his mark with Everton FC.
Landon Donovan has reached the point in his career where he needs to move out from under the MLS umbrella and take a real chance at becoming an international star—not just an MLS and US National Team star—by joining Everton FC.
