NCAA soccer: Stanford wins women?s championship, College Cup set for men?s tournament

After years of NCAA tournament disappointiment, Stanford won its first women?s championship with a 1-0 victory over Duke on Sunday in Kennesaw, Ga. The Cardinal (25-0-1) lost in the final the previous two seasons. Video here.

Meantime, Creighton?s 1-0 victory over South Florida in extra time rounded out the semifinal field for the men?s College Cup: top-seeded North Carolina (20-2-2) vs. No. 13 UCLA (18-4-1) and second-seeded Creighton (21-2-0, 18 shutouts, five goals against) vs. unseeded Charlotte (16-4-3) on Friday in Hoover, Ala. ESPNU will show the semifinals, as well as Sunday?s title game.
