Week 1 of the NFL season gave fantasy footballers a better sample to evaluate the players on their own rosters and those that they will be looking to acquire.
Now that many owners will know what to expect from the players they have, there will be a lot of trade activity and offers being shot around leagues ahead of this weekend.
Here are a few players worth letting go if you get the right deal:
Cam Newton:
Newton won't have a game as big as he had during Week 1. He showed enough to think that he can be a viable starter in fantasy football, however the hype surrounding him right now will likely be tempered after going against the Green Bay Packers this week.
There will be a few people that read too much into Newton's debut and think that he will be putting up 300 yards each week. That won't happen. If you have Newton and don't need him to start, it will definitely be worth your while to entertain offers from other owners.
Many people will be frustrated after passing on Larry Fitzgerald after Kevin Kolb's Week 1 performance. However Fitzgerald finished the game with only three receptions for 62 yards. In fact Kolb showed a lot of awareness to spread the ball out and not focus on his best receiver.
The truth is that Kolb will also struggle a lot more throughout the year. The Panthers had little in the way of a consistent pass rush to get in Kolb's face, this week he will be exposed as the Washington Redskins will be able to pressure him. The Cardinals offensive line is a major issue that will be exposed also this week.
Ben Tate:
Ben Tate is a huge sleeper right now who proved to be a valuable back last week. However once Arian Foster returns to full health, Tate will still just be a complementary back for the Texans. He likely won't repeat his 24-carry game for the Texans again this year.
Some people will have Tate on their bench and consider putting him in as a third starting back. He may be more valuable to you in a trade.
The likelihood is Manning won't play again this season. However he will still be on most rosters and those desperate for a quarterback later in the year may be willing to part ways with a player or two to pick him up.
He is a huge risk, but there will be people willing to acquire an elite quarterback and take him off your hands.
Did anyone watch Michael Vick at the weekend? Anyone else notice how often he had to scramble to avoid the pass rush? There is no chance that Vick plays 16 games this year.
However he was impressive enough that you will get huge value for him in a trade should you choose to let him go. With the amount of quarterbacks throwing for huge yardage in Week 1, elite quarterbacks can be expendable.
Wes Welker had a huge night on Monday. The Patriots game plan was set up perfectly for him to succeed this last week however and I'd be surprised if he goes over 100 yards too often this year. Bill Belichick understood that needed to work the inside of the Dolphins defense which saw Welker and the tight ends put up big numbers.
Not every defense will have players the caliber of Sean Smith and Vontae Davis on the outside to force the team to go to Welker so often. The Patriots spread the ball out and Brady won't be throwing for 500 yards each week. Welker's stock won't be higher than it is right now.
