Mid-Day Ticker: USWNT beats Mexico, Ancelotti to take a year off and more

By FRANCO PANIZO Well, at least one American national team won its friendly this weekend. The U.S. women's national team won its final tune-up before the start of the World Cup, topping Mexico, 1-0, at Red Bull Arena on Sunday. Lauren Cheney scored a splendid goal from distance in second-half stoppage time to give the Americans the win. Abby Wambach assisted on the goal. The U.S. team will head to Austria for its pre-World Cup training before opening the World Cup against North Korea on June 28 in Germany. Video of Cheney's goal and a few other stories from around...
