Pass or Fail: Columbus Cottonmouths checkered speedway jerseys

The Southern Professional Hockey League is our favorite home for game-forfeiting benches-clearing brawls and coaches tantrums that end up on "Good Morning America." But honestly, in comparison to other minor leagues, it hasn't given us many memorable alternate jerseys.

The Columbus Cottonmouths have changed that. The Georgia-based team will rock these sweaters on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the "Snake Pit" against the Louisiana Ice Gators.

From the Cottonmouths, who provided the images:

Saturday, Jan. 22 is Race Night, presented by Epperly Tire, and Youth Hockey Night. We will be raffling off THREE GREAT RACE PRIZES, including pit passes to Talladega and the All-Star Race in Charlotte. Also, a trip to Ft. Worth, TX including airfare and hotel and pit passes to Texas Motor Speedway will be given away.

The Snakes will be wearing commemorative race jerseys, which will be auctioned following the game.

For comparison's sake, here are the usual sweaters for the Cottonmouths. Words in fangs or words under snakehead? Tough call.

Much easier call: Checkered racing flags behind a poisonous snake. Which we understand is actually the universal caution symbol for "Ya'll Don't Eat That, Ya'Hear?" around hazardous materials at motor speedways.

By the way, Friday night is Guns and Hoses Police and Fire Appreciation Night, presented by Shirley's Accounting, Butterfingers Crazy Chicken, Manuever Supply and Cartridge World; the annual Cottonmouths Teddy Bear Toss; and Knology Customer Appreciation Night. What, no magnetic calendars?

With that, we ask:

Pass or Fail: SPHL Columbus Cottonmouths' motor speedway jerseys.
