Does CM Punk Want To Walk Away From WWE?
The news just keeps going from bad to worse for WWE as far as keeping main event guys around. In the last year WWE has lost Batista, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker (who isn't retired, but only works one or two shows per year), Edge, Chris Jericho and Triple H (who is not likely to be featured on television until next Wrestlemania).
If reports are true, you can add one more name to that list very soon: CM Punk.
According to PWInsider.com, Punk's current contract is getting ready to expire and he doesn't appear interested in signing a new one right now.
From Mike Johnson (via PWInsider.com):
According to WWE sources, Punk has been offered a new long-term deal but has balked at signing, citing burnout with being on the road for years and unhappiness with his position in the company over the last year.
As one source pointed out, Punk has been something of an "Iron Man" for the company, working full-time on the road with the exception of his hip injury needing to be rehabbed last year. At the same time, despite delivering with whatever was handed to him creatively, Punk has watched as other talents developed since he debuted ended up pushed as bigger names and treated as more important than Punk, including Miz and Alberto Del Rio.

If you are WWE, what do you do now? You have only a handful of main event guys, and that's probably being generous, on your roster right now, and one of them wants to walk away at a time when they need all the help they can get.
Punk should feel fatigued and slighted. He works every house show that the company puts on. He has been the best heel that the company has had for most of the last year, but because he isn't a "WWE creation" he isn't going to get the push that a lot of the other guys, who can't work as well as he can in the ring, are going to get.
