Sometimes as an NFL fantasy football owner it's better to stick to your guns and stay away from the waiver wire.
While the wire can be a season saver at times, there are other times where it's literally a black hole of hype and false expectations.
Owners will go to the wire to try to find plug-ins for injuries, bye weeks, or just in the hopes of finding a sleeper to save their season.
Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't.
There are a few players that are getting a lot of waiver wire love this week, but they shouldn't be.
Here are a few players you need to stay away from on the waiver wire:
Tim Tebow, QB Denver Broncos
I'm not sure how anybody can trust Tebow to be their starting NFL quarterback let alone a fantasy quarterback. While he may have led the Broncos back to beat the abysmal Miami Dolphins, most of the game he looked awful. There were times where he missed receivers by ten yards in either direction. Tebow is not a good quarterback, and while he may get you some points on the ground, unless you are crazy you should probably stay away from him.
Alfonso Smith, RB Arizona Cardinals
Smith looked to be a great pickup with the Cardinals fearing that they may have lost Beanie Wells, but news has come out that Wells is okay and may even play this weekend. Smith's value has instantly shot down, and while he may be a decent option this week, I wouldn't trust him after that.
Shonn Greene, RB New York Jets
Greene is going to be on a lot of waiver wires considering that the Jets are on a bye week. He rushed for 112 yards on 20 attempts so he may be considered a hot pickup moving forward. He's available, but I wouldn't suggest him as an option. Greene has been far too inconsistent this year and isn't worth trusting.
