Quick set a new Kings franchise record with his third straight shutout, and defenseman Jack Johnson's third-period goal ? this third game-winner of the season ? gave Los Angeles a 1-0 win over the Dallas Stars. Quick previously shut out the Blues and the Coyotes. He's given up five goals over his six starts.
No. 2 Star: Mike Green, Washington Capitals
In the battle of the unbeatens, Green was a primary reason the Capitals remain unbeaten. He scored two power-play goals and assisted on goals by Mathieu Perreault and Joel Ward to help power the Caps to a 7-1 rout of the Detroit Red Wings.
No. 3 Star: Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators
The Preds unleashed the awesome power of their offensive attack and ? generated 14 shots on goal. So it was up to Rinne to bust their slump, as he stopped 33 shots and helped Nashville to a 2-0 win at the Calgary Flames. Niclas Bergfors scored his first as a Predator, and Sergei Kostitsyn iced it in the third. Said Barry Trotz: "When you need a win, Pekks is always the guy who can stand up and give you a real good performance, and he did."
Honorable mention: Mathieu Garon stopped 21 shots as the Tampa Bay Lightning blanked the Buffalo Sabres, 3-0; Martin St. Louis scored his third and assisted on Victor Hedman's empty netter. ? Nikolai Khabibulin had a 19-save shutout against an uninspired New York Rangers team, as the Edmonton Oilers won 2-0. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was at it again, scoring his fifth of the season and assisting on Corey Potter's first on the power play in the third period. ? Sami Salo's power-play goal in overtime, during his 700th NHL game, gave the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild.� Daniel Sedin scored his fourth for the Canucks. Devin Setoguchi scored his third for the Wild. Cory Schneider made 21 saves in the win. ? A tremendously entertaining game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens went to overtime; that's where Mikhail Grabovski made magic happen:
The Leafs rallied three times to win the game, 5-4, as Phil Kessel scored his eighth. Travis Moen had two goals in the loss for the Habs. ? Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture (his first), Boston College product Benn Ferriero and Patrick Marleau (his first) powered the San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins. Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin scored for the B's. ? Recently taken off IR, St. Louis Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo scored a goal and assisted on another as the Blues topped the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2. Matt D'Agostini's fourth of the season iced it in the third, just 1:06 after Matt Carle cut the lead to one goal. Brian Elliott got the win with 34 saves. ? Jordan Staal scored twice and James Neal potted his eighth as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils, 4-1. ? The Winnipeg Jets rallied from a 2-0 deficit with five straight goals, beating the Carolina Hurricanes, 5-3. Kyle Wellwood tied the game and Jim Slater put the Jets ahead in the second. Evander Kane scored his first for the Jets. Chris Mason won in relief of Ondrej Pavelec. ? In a 31-second span, Ottawa Senators winger Milan Michalek assisted on Jason Spezza's tying goal and scored the game-winning goal on the power play, to give the Sens a 4-3 win over the victory-less Columbus Blue Jackets. ? On a night that saw them trade forward David Booth to the Vancouver Canucks, the Florida Panthers doubled up the New York Islanders, 4-2. Shawn Matthias scored an empty netter and assisted on Tim Kennedy's game-winner. Jacob Markstrom made 19 saves, earning his first NHL win in relief of an injured Jose Theodore. ? Wild one between the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks, as Gabriel Landeskog scored his fourth of the season at 18:12 of the third period to tie the game and Joakim Lindstrom scored in this nasty shootout move to win it, 5-4. Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves and three more in the shootout.

Did you know? The Blackhawks unveiled bronze statues of Hall of Famers Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita outside the United Center before the game.
Dishonorable mention:
Christian Ehrhoff, Jonathan Ericsson, Johan Franzen and Jakub Kindl were among the minus-3s on the night. ? Tense times for the Rangers, as Henrik Lundqvist left the game in the third period "because of a skate problem that caused pain in his left foot." ? Dany Heatley gave the Canucks an overtime power play with a terrifically stupid slashing penalty, as he hacked at Ryan Kesler's stick and broke it in half. "Not a smart play," Heatley said. "That's really all there is to say." ? This collision between James Reimer and Brian Gionta eventually knocked the Leafs goalie out of their game with "whiplash-like symptoms." ? Devils winger Petr Sykora accepted a 4-minute high-sticking penalty when it was clearly Patrik Elias's stick that cut the Penguins' Steve Sullivan. Elias scored a shorthanded goal on the ensuing power play. "(The referee) came up to me, he wasn't happy and I apologized to him," said Sykora. ?
