*Barring a last-minute change, Bill Hamid, D.C. United?s 20-year-old goalkeeper, will join veteran Tim Howard as the netminders for the U.S. national team?s friendly against Mexico next week, the Insider has learned. Hamid is in fine form, 2 1/2 hours away from the four-day get-together in Philadelphia, and needs national team workouts ahead of his expected lead role for the under-23/Olympic squad next year. Howard is Hamid?s idol, and they?ve bonded in the past year. In act, I?m told, Howard?s recommendation weighed heavily in Juergen Klinsmann?s decision to invite Hamid.
