After nine years at the helm, Thomas Rongen is out as the U.S. under-20 national team coach, the U.S. Soccer Federation told the Insider this morning.
He will not guide the squad at a tournament in France this month and his contract will not be renewed when it expires Dec. 31, a USSF spokesman said. It?s unclear whether he will be assigned other responsibilities for the remainder of the year.
The United States failed to qualify for the U-20 World Cup this spring, ending a streak of seven consecutive appearances.
