NBA Draft Order 2011: Will Kemba Walker Actually Be a Lottery Pick?

Kemba Walker might be more Ben Gordon than he is Derrick Rose.

The line on Kemba Walker is that he was a solid game manager at the point guard position in his first two seasons but then he proved his mettle as a scorer his junior season.  In 2010 UConn rode Kemba and his 23.2 ppg to an undefeated record in tournament play and their first national title since 2004.

While Walker showed a great ability to separate from defenders in his first two seasons he often had trouble knocking down open jumpers.  All that changed in 2010.  After a summer dedicated to improving his shot Walker saw his field goal percentage rise to a respectable 42.8% including 33% from three point range.

Despite his impressive improvement Kemba probably won?t be a lottery pick as he is unlikely to be a high scoring guard in the NBA; a  big reason most scouts have Walker behind Duke?s Kyrie Irving and Kentucky?s Brandon Knight on their boards.

Kemba will fit best in the NBA as a distributor for a team who already has a proven scorer, such as (the still) Sacramento Kings.

The 2011 NBA Draft Order will be set in stone after Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery and that one event will help determine the future for nearly half of the league's teams leading up to June's NBA Draft. How will your team do? Will they get one of the league's next rising stars in Kyrie Irving, Derrick Williams or Jimmer Fredette? Will they trade the pick? Bleacher Report gives you the latest scoop on all things draft-related, including projections for all the picks.
