Everybody should hope the LSU Tigers lose to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. While the loss would likely have no impact on the BCS Title Game makeup, it would do wonders for the excitement in the Sugar Bowl.
The verdict is still out on Houston, an explosive Conference USA team who has an undefeated record and the No. 1 scoring offense in the nation.
Because of the conference they're in, naysayers will say that Case Keenum is a system quarterback going up against weak competition. Houston is the No. 8 team in the country, but can they really compete against the best teams in the country?
If Georgia takes the SEC, we'll get a chance to see.
Georgia is everything that Houston is not. They are one of the most iconic programs in the storied SEC. They've won 10 straight after losing their first two games, and if they take down LSU, it will let everyone know they can hang with anyone in the nation.
Georgia only allows 17.8 PPG. If Houston's passing game producing 449.7 YPG is nothing more than a result of facing lackluster defenses, we would find out.
Some will argue the Bulldogs gain nothing by playing the Cougars. This is the same sort of scenario they faced when they took on Boise State in the first game of their season.
This would let everyone know where Houston stacks up on the national scene, but a blowout win would suggest Houston is just another small school who can't compete against bigger programs.
Georgia may have nothing to gain, but it's a great matchup for us to see. It's a traditional, SEC heavy-hitter versus a high-octane, Conference USA Cinderella story.
What could be better than that?
