For whatever reason, there were a whole bunch of players that could not make the cut on their NFL team.
Well, it?s not for a completely random reason. Teams had to cut their rosters down to 53 bodies, so unfortunately some players had to go.
Believe it or not, even some good players had to go.
There is something beautiful about NFL roster cuts.
I think it has to do with the whole out with the old, in with the new theory of life.
These players? old teams didn?t want them, but now they have a chance to start fresh with a new NFL team.
There were quite a few talented players that got cut from their squads.
You may be wondering why they were tossed aside?
Here?s the inside scoop:
Chester Taylor, RB:
The Bears cut Taylor, but I feel it was more because of the roster requirements than his diminished skills. To be fair, he has been struggling as of late, and he?s not the same player we saw back with the Vikings. He still is a good option to have coming out of the backfield on third downs though, and I wouldn?t hesitate to pick him up if I were a team looking for a backup.
Larry Johnson, RB:
Let?s be honest, Larry Johnson has severely dropped off the map. He is in no way the dominant rusher that we saw in Kansas City. That being said, I think he still has enough left in the tank for another good year or two in a backup role. He still is a good rusher, and we know he hits the line of scrimmage hard. He?s worth a look.
Brandon Meriweather, S:
The scoop on Meriweather is that there has to be something else here that we don?t know. So basically, the scoop is that there is still some more scoop left to be found. He is a two time Pro Bowl player, and the Patriots really had no reason to let him go. He does have some off the field issues in the past, so I wonder if New England didn?t want to deal with that anymore. That being said, they do have a history of taking on troubled players. Just look at their roster right now. There is more to this story than what meets the eye.
