The Best Video Highlights of Kellen Moore

Sometimes, a 50-3 record as a starting quarterback is all you need to know about who is behind center and what kind of player he is.

But if you are barely 6'0" and 197 pounds and your name is Kellen Moore, your entire body of work while at Boise State is placed under a microscope. Who is this passer with a pudgy frame and questionable mechanics? Was he a product of the Boise State system or does he have the moxy and know how to get the job done at the next level?

He isn't as polished as Drew Brees (no one really is) but he is close in stature to the Saints' great. While he looks like the second coming of Bobby Brady, he has a lot of drive and is a good leader, and helped put Boise State on the map.

His credentials are impressive: In the final game of 2008, Boise State lost to Texas Christian University (TCU) in the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl. In 2009 Moore threw for a school record 39 touchdowns with only three interceptions to lead the Broncos to a 14–0 record, another WAC title, and an at-large bid to the Fiesta Bowl vs. undefeated No. 4 ranked TCU.

In his career in Idaho, Moore was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Manning Award.

But still, scouts and coaches have to wonder if he can play well at the next level. Here are some highlights that might be able to sway their decision.

Mikkel Boedker sneaks OT game-winner past Corey Crawford; Coyotes go up 2-1 on Blackhawks (VIDEO)

For most of their Game 3 battle, Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford was strong against the Phoenix Coyotes. But at 13:15 of overtime, he let a Mikkel Boedker shot somehow sneak through his pads on a tough angle to hand the Coyotes a 3-2 win and a 2-1 series lead:

Any chance Patrick Kane, while standing in front of Crawford, mumbled "smooth move, Leighton ?"?

The catalyst for this goal were hallmarks of Dave Tippett's Coyotes: Great defensive presence in their own zone and strong forechecking down in the opposing zone.

With Patrick Kane cutting to the slot, Rusty Klesla stick-checked the puck free sending Taylor Pyatt down the ice in a 1-on-2. He chipped the puck in and then raced Nicklas Hjalmarsson to the corner. Hjalmarsson poked the puck along ? right to Boedker, who somehow put the puck in for his first career goal in the third overtime game of the series.

So it's 2-1 series lead for the Coyotes ? but how will the dynamic of the series change after the Raffi Torres hit that sent Marian Hossa to the hospital?

Penguins? Arron Asham suspended 4 games for attack on Flyers? Brayden Schenn

Arron Asham of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been suspended for four games ? which would be the rest of their first-round series, should they pull off a miracle rally ? for his attack on Brayden Schenn of the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

At first glance, this might seem preposterous, given the violent, targeted nature of the incident, which involved his stick. But watch the Brendan Shanahan explanation here:

Indeed, hockey is a game of inches; in Asham's case, the inches between his stick striking Schenn in the chest vs. in the face is the space between a 4-game suspension and a much more significant, Chris Simon-esque ban had there been an injury.

That said: "The violent, vengeful nature of the high stick is unacceptable."

Combined with the punches to a prone Schenn on the ice, and Asham earned his suspension.

Did they get it right?

From the NHL, which suspended James Neal of the Penguins for one game earlier on Tuesday:

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Arron Asham has been suspended for four games for cross-checking Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn during Game 3 of the teams' Eastern Conference Quarterfinal playoff series Sunday in Philadelphia, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 14:15 of the first period. Asham was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure.

Using the old equation of each playoff game being worth two regular-season games, this would be an eight-game ban ? putting Asham, a first-time offender, in line with the suspensions earned by repeat offenders like Andy Sutton (8 games) and Dan Carcillo (7 games) in the regular season.

Admittedly, the stick to the "throat" on the initial views made this look worse that it actually was. Still dirty, still intent to injure, and still worth the 4-game ban it was given.

Blackhawks? Marian Hossa leaves game on stretcher after Raffi Torres hit (VIDEO)

Very scary moment in the first period during Tuesday's Game 3 between the Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes.

Marian Hossa was cutting toward center ice after getting the puck knocked away from him when he was met by Raffi Torres who laid a shoulder to the Blackhawks forward's chin. On replay, it was clear Torres launched himself into Hossa.

Hossa was knocked unconscious and had to be taken from the ice on a stretcher:

Via CSN Chicago, here's the full sequence:

Torres was not penalized on the play. Brandon Bollig of the Blackhawks was assessed a double minor for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct for going after Torres. Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune Tweeted that Hossa left the rink in an ambulance.

The following television timeout, Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville was interviewed by NBC Sports Network's Joe Micheletti and his was response was simply: "It was a brutal hit. I can't believe four guys missed it. It makes me sick."

[ Related: Torres defends Hossa hit as 'hockey play' ]

Torres is a repeat offender. He was fined $2,500 in December for elbowing Jan Hejda and later suspended three days later for two games after charging Nate Prosser. You'll recall he was banned for the final two regular season games and two playoff games at the end of last season for elbowing Jordan Eberle in the head.

If there's case for a Matt Cooke 2011 Suspension 2.0, this hit is the one. An update on Hossa's condition will come tomorrow, right in time for Torres' hearing with Brendan Shanahan; and seeing as how injury plays a role in whether to suspend and the length of a suspension, in this situation it shouldn't matter. Torres left his feet. Made contact with the head and the result was ugly.

As Shanahan explained in Alex Ovechkin's suspension for charging Zbynek Michalek:

"The moment Ovechkin launches himself into the air prior to the hit he becomes responsible for any contact to the head."

We'll likely hear some form of that when Torres earns yet another suspension sometime this week.

UPDATE: Chicago Blackhawks Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Terry said on Tuesday night: "Marian Hossa suffered an upper body blow in the first period of tonight's game. After initial evaluation on the ice he was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further testing, which yielded encouraging results. He has been released from the hospital and we are monitoring him closely at home. We anticipate a full recovery in a timetable yet to be determined. "

Puck Previews: Devils, Panthers finally get under way; chocolate Stanley Cups; anniversary of Whalers? last game

Here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished.

? New York City chocolatier Jacques Torres was commissioned by NBC to create 48-pound chocolate Stanley Cups to be sent around the country to various radio and television stations. Because it's the ... *drool* [Sports and Food]

Game 1 Preview: New Jersey Devils at Florida Panthers, 7 p.m. ET. April 20, 2000 was the last time there was playoff hockey in South Florida. It was Game 4 and the Devils finished their four-game sweep of the Panthers. June 1, 1996 was the last time the Panthers won a playoff game as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Eastern Conference crown. April 17, 1997 was the last Panthers playoff win.Tonight, Florida finally returns to the big dance. Check outEric Adelson's piece for more on the Panthers' return to the postseason.

Game 2 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers at Pittsburgh Penguins, 7:30 p.m. ET (Philadelphia leads 1-0). The Penguins went 0-for-3 on the power play in Game 1 and used a couple of different looks this morning at practice, including breaking up Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Will Dan Bylsma go ahead with two big PP units in Game 2 instead of one? Also, bear costumes are running thin in Pittsburgh after Game 1.

Game 2 Preview: Detroit Red Wings at Nashville Predators 7:30 p.m. ET (Nashville leads 1-0). Hal Gill: out for Game 2. Gustav Nyquist: in for the injured Darren Helm. Shea Weber: not suspended. Will the Predators captain be the victim of a few extra face washes tonight?

Game 2 Preview: Los Angeles Kings at Vancouver Canucks, 10 p.m. ET (Los Angeles leads 1-0). Dustin Penner scored in Game 1, but that didn't impress head coach Darryl Sutter. Via Rich Hammond: "He can be a whole lot better for all three periods. You're talking about him because he scored one goal. If it's just about scoring, then I don't think we're going to beat this team 5-4 or 6-5. I highly doubt that. You have to be very good, 200 feet, everywhere on the ice.'' Andrei Loktionovwill likely replace Kyle Clifford in Game 2.Daniel Sedin skated today, but will not play.

Puck Previews: Mr. Thomas goes to Washington; Stanley Cup wedding cake; Rangers, Sens in Ottawa

Here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished.

? On Friday, it was a chocolate Stanley Cup. Now it's a Stanley Cup wedding cake. I'm waiting on a Jell-O Stanley Cup. Don't let me down, puckheads.

Preview: New York Rangers at Ottawa Senators, 7:30 p.m. ET

After splitting the games at MSG, the series shifts to Ottawa. Daniel Alfredsson's concussion will keep him out of the lineup, as will Carl Hagelin's suspension for giving it to him by way of an elbow, and Matt Carkner will serve his one-gamer for going after Brian Boyle. But don't think the Shanabans will deter the rough stuff. The Senators feel their chippy, physical play played a major role in evening up the series, so it will likely continue.

Preview: Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals, 7:30 p.m. ET

President Obama may not be in attendance for this one, but it sounds like he'll be well-represented. As a result, expect Tim Thomas to supplant Braden Holtby as the story tonight, regardless of what happens. If Thomas wins, people will say it's because he shut out the distractions. If he loses, it will be because he didn't. No surprise that goaltending will continue to hog the spotlight: With the Capitals playing tighter and more patient, this will likely be another one-goal game.

Preview: St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks, 10 p.m. ET

With Jaroslav Halak out with a lower-body injury suffered on a collision with Barrett Jackman, Brian Elliott draws in for the Blues as the series moves to the HP Pavilion. If the Sharks want to beat Elliott, they'll need more from the Joes, who have yet to score, and a better effort from their powerplay. Expect rough stuff in this one, especially after T.J. Galiardi escaped punishment for cracking Andy McDonald's helmet on a high hit and Vladimir Sobotka broke Dominic Moore's with a punch.

In a way, Timmy is the Messiah. He's managing to bring conservatives and liberals together in perfect harmony, even for just one night.

Truer words.
