Wimbledon 2011 Results: Serena Williams Struggles Again in 2nd Round Matchup

Wimbledon 2011 Results Not Favorable for Serena Williams Thus Far

While Serena Williams is winning matches, she is not winning as comfortably as she would like at this point.

Since her return from injury, Serena has won three of her four matches, but all of them have gone three sets.

In her second round matchup against Simona Halep, she lost the first set 6-3 before rebounding to win the final two sets.

She faired quite well over the remaining two sets as she only lost three games in two sets combined.  However, Serena would prefer not to have to win the second and third sets to come away with a victory.

She needs to come out stronger earlier in matches and get ahead rather than having to battle back.  The further she advances in this tournament, the harder the competition is going to get, and she will not be able to afford starting so poorly.

Even with sitting a year out, she has proven that she is a more than capable player still and she still has the potential to win the 2011 Wimbledon Championship.

However, with each average performance, her chances dwindle.  She is going to need to turn her game on now and start playing at a whole new level if she wants to win this tournament.

She is one of the most entertaining players to watch, and there are not many tennis matches that are more exciting than watching Serena square off against her sister.  Hopefully Serena can find another gear, or she will be heading for an early exit from Wimbledon.
