Ryan Mallett 2011 NFL Draft: Where Does Mallett Stand in This Year's Arms Race?

Ryan Mallett has declared for the 2011 NFL Draft, throwing his name into a hat that already includes such quarterback stars as Cam Newton, Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert.

With Andrew Luck announcing his decision to stay at Stanford for one more season, exactly who is the top NFL quarterback prospect is rather debatable.

Mallett definitely has a very strong arm, but there are concerns about his accuracy and his pocket presence. Gabbert has all the tools, but he didn't really play well down the stretch. Newton has raw talent, but may not be cut out to be an NFL quarterback. And so on.

So in other words, it's wide open. That's why we have gone ahead and ranked the Top 10 quarterbacks in this year's draft class. After this, there will be no arguing.

Enjoy.

Poll: Landon Donovan won't return to Everton

Los Angeles Galaxy captain Landon Donovan will not return to Everton this winter on short-term loan, as he did with much success last year, because of concerns about fatigue. Donovan has played 50 meaningful games in each of the past two years. In early 2009, he was with Bayern Munich before diving back into the MLS season. "While I enjoyed my time at Everton last season and still appreciate all the support their fans have given me, I feel that it is important to continue to rest and recover this offseason as opposed to going on loan. I never considered being loaned to a club other than Everton, but I have been playing nearly non-stop for the past two years and I believe that this decision will allow me to perform at my best for the Galaxy and the national team throughout the upcoming year." In 2011, with the Galaxy,

Mike Mularkey: Will Atlanta Falcons Lose Their Offensive Guru?

Mike Mularkey is the hot topic in Denver right now. ESPN is reporting that the Denver Broncos are set to interview the Falcons offensive coordinator.

The Broncos are taking immediate steps as Mularkey is enjoying a bye week before returning to NFL play in the divisional round of the playoffs. There is a lot to like about Mularkey for the Broncos.

For one, he is NFL ready. He has already been the head coach of the Buffalo Bills and is player's coach. But the best possible reason for the Broncos interest is Mularkey's success with Matt Ryan. The Falcons quarterback has quickly become one of the best and most accurate arms on the league.

The Broncos have a project themselves in Tim Tebow. His production will directly affect the future of this franchise. If Mularkey can work his magic, the sky is the limit.

Video: Wesley Sonck's Amazing Snowbound Bicycle Kick

wesley sonckThere's been a lot of talk about soccer in the winter lately.

MLS commissioner Don Garber said the league is studying a possible shift in its season to the European calendar (whether that's still the case following the World Cup bid debacle is unknown), while Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has suggested that the Premier League should abandon its traditional schedule and start its season in the spring.

On Wednesday, Scottish Football Association president George Peat issued a similar call.

Everyone is worked up over the weather, including those who now are pushing for the 2022 World Cup in blazing hot Qatar to be moved to the winter.
