MLS weekend wrap-up: strong attendance, weak goal-scoring, PK/red card controversy, weighted lottery

We?ll begin with referee Yader Reyes in the third minute of Real Salt Lake?s 3-3 draw with the New England Revolution. In his defense, at first glance in full speed, Reyes seems to make the right call ? a tackle from behind in the box -- but upon closer look, it was neither a penalty nor a red card:

*MLS enjoyed a satisfying weekend at the box office. Interestingly, D.C. United drew the smallest crowd, which can be taken two ways: On the positive front, a club with a firm foundation is on the low end. On the negative side, United is failing to appeal to the general masses.
